Scope and Contents
The 209 photographs in the Doyle Rees photograph collection depict various battles from the Pacific Ocean campaign during World War II. These battles include those on Kwajalein Island, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Tarawa Atoll, the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the Battle of Midway. The majority of the photos were taken by the Army Pictoral Service and include a brief synopsis of the photo on the back.

Biographical Note
Doyle Rees was born in Benson, Utah on September 9, 1908 to Jesse T. and Florence Tarbet Rees. Rees graduated from Utah Agricultural College where he played on the football team earning the nickname, "High-Power." He later attended the George Washington University Law School for three years before entering the military at the outbreak of World War II and was stationed in Hawaii. After being promoted to colonel in the U.S. Air Force, Rees became part of the Office of Special Investigations. He was soon involved in the the "green fireball" investigations in New Mexico. This involved sightings of bright green meteor-like objects shooting across the sky. In 1963, Rees retired from the Air Force, but continuted to work from his home in Logan as a special investigator for the CIA until his death on December 29, 2007, in Logan, Utah.
